Differential settlement is non-uniform settlement. It is "the difference of settlement between various locations of the structure. Angular distortion between two points under a structure is equal, to the differential settlement between the points divided by the distance between them. Theoretically, no damage will be done to a structure if it settles uniformly as a whole regardless of how large the settlement may be.Osculator support

The soil strength parameters which can be inferred are approximate, but may give a useful guide in ground conditions where it may not be possible to obtain borehole samples of adequate quality like gravels, sands, siltsclay containing sand or gravel and weak rock. In conditions where the quality of the undisturbed sample is suspect, e. If the samples are found to be unacceptably disturbed, it may be necessary to use a different method for measuring strength like the plate test.
When the test is carried out in granular soils below groundwater level, the soil may become loosened. In certain circumstances, it can be useful to continue driving the sampler beyond the distance specified, adding further drilling rods as necessary.
Although this is not a standard penetration test, and should not be regarded as such, it may at least give an indication as to whether the deposit is really as loose as the standard test may indicate. Soils in arid areas, such as the Western United Statesmay exhibit natural cementation. This condition will often increase the standard penetration value. The SPT is used to provide results for empirical determination of a sand layer's susceptibility to soil liquefactionbased on research performed by Harry Seed, T.
Leslie Youdand others. Despite its many flaws, it is usual practice to correlate SPT results with soil properties relevant for geotechnical engineering design. SPT results are in-situ field measurements, and not as subject to sample disturbance, and are often the only test results available, therefore the use of correlations has become common practice in many countries.

Those occasions in which you are sitting around waiting for the batteries to finish charging (2 battery packs one depleted and one charging).

Brushless would provide me longer run time without the need for larger batteries. Now onto another benefit for brushless tech for me is a more compact, shorter, and lighter tool. Because of its size and weight the dcd985 is my least used cordless drill. Switching to some thing like the Milwaukee fuel hammer drill might not change that but it would help.
Im not trying to push others into switching to brushless or even switch brands. I am just stating reasons why it makes sense for me to switch. I see cordless as the future in power tools. Under heavy use I would still find myself waiting a bit for the batteries to completely charge. I get it loud and clear about the benefits of corded tools like power, unlimited run time, and cheaper. But Im still going to get a brushless drill. It has pros and cons just like cordless has pros and cons. Ill stick to what works for me. When I was talking about cordless tools making corded ones obsolete I was talking about portable power tools.
One thing that I can say for sure is that brushless motors in those tools made a huge difference.
Literally night and day. I also use a 20v max dewalt as my big drill. I picked up the DCD950 last fall for pretty cheap. The 20v max is no slouch but I could always use more power and runtime. Such tools require little redesign and development, as they can be based off the same motors and gearing used in the new budget impact driver.Also this course has given me valuable information about how to approach a risk analysis, and the software model assistant is very interestingI found it challenging but also a rewarding experience.
After completing this course I am now more confident about undertaking statistical analysis. Since I started the Epidemiology Statistics class, I've had a much better understanding of the other staffs' concerns.
A very nice introduction to the subject. As someone without any real background in epidemiology, now moving into an area where I need it, this course was very helpful indeed. This course is a great review of some popular probability distributions and how to test their assumptions.
Reviewing the sampling techniques and testing the assumed distributions will help me when I check data and perform regression models. I appreciated the discussion board feedback as well as comments back on the homework assignments.
